Logging a catch
The catch form is the screen you will use most, so it is built to be filled in with wet hands and one eye on the rods. Only the species is required. Everything else makes your stats richer later.
Start with the photo
Take a photo or pick one you already have. It is optional, but a photo is what makes a share card worth posting, and it is the only way to use the verification check.
The fish does not have to be on a mat in perfect light. A clear shot of the whole fish is plenty.
Pick the species
Search by name and choose from the catalog. Names are shown in your app language where we have a translation for them.
If you are not certain, pick the closest match and note the doubt in the notes field. It is better than leaving the fish out of your log entirely.
Weight and length
Weight can be entered in kilograms or grams, whichever suits the fish, and length in centimetres. Both are optional.
They are worth filling in even for small fish. Personal bests, per species records and most of the interesting stats come from these two numbers.
Rig, gear and conditions
If the session has rigs, say which one caught it, and pick the gear item you were using. Over a season this is what tells you which rod and which bait are actually earning their place.
You can also record water temperature, depth and how clear the water was, plus whether you released the fish or kept it.
Optional AI verification
If the catch has a photo, you can ask FishingStat AI to check it. It compares the photo against the species and the measurements you entered, and a catch that passes carries a verification mark on its share card.
It is entirely opt in, per catch. Nothing is checked unless you tick the box.
Personal bests happen by themselves
Every catch is compared against your records as you save it. Beat your best for that species and the app tells you on the spot.
You never have to maintain a personal best list. That is the whole idea.
