Building your gear bag
The gear bag is a list of what you actually fish with. Filling it in takes ten minutes once, and after that every catch can be tied to the kit that caught it.
What you can add
Rods, reels, line, hooks, bait, feed and a catch all category for everything else. Each item takes a name, and optionally a brand, a model and your own notes.
Notes are the useful part. What a bait actually smells like, or which reel has the dodgy drag, is exactly the sort of thing you forget between seasons.
Add items from the Gear tab
Open Gear, add an item, choose the type and give it a name. There is no need to do it all at once. Most people add things as they use them.
Use it on the water
When you set up a rig during a session, pick the bait and feed from your bag rather than typing them again. When you log a catch, pick the gear item that caught it.
That link is what turns the gear bag from a packing list into something that answers questions at the end of a season.
Retiring old kit
Gear you no longer use can be marked inactive instead of deleted. It disappears from the pickers but stays attached to the catches it earned, so your history stays true.
